About the piece:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Nov. 22, 2018
Vancouver, BC - Sustainability-chic clothing brand ARC Apparel just announced their newest free event to grace their beautiful Gastown space - ‘Altitude Aesthetic’ - a collaborative photography project between Noel McDonald and Peter Fitzpatrick, starting at 7:00 pm on November 29th. Its aim is to use their artistic techniques to uncover the beauty of some of the most remote corners on earth, in the hopes of inspiring others to do the same.
ARC Apparel’s founder Sarah Stewart is an avid traveller, supporter of the arts, and lover of the earth. The perfect matching of values made for an ideal partnership between her store and the creatives. Her aim with the project is, in bringing light to the beauty of our most secret places in the world and marveling at their beauty, the audience will ponder how they can protect scenes such as those shown so they do not disappear. There is so much emphasis on the value of buying ‘organic’, ‘fair trade’, and ‘non-GMO’ food, but very little when attention is given to how we purchase our clothing and how that impacts humans and the world. Sarah Stewart muses, “I think right now is an exciting time in fashion. There was a huge shift towards lower prices in the last 20 years - unfortunately, that meant quality dwindled. I think that people are looking for quality again and it’s slowly coming back.”.
Stewart’s quest for quality comes as no surprise - as a person who lives in jeans, she knows the true value of the perfect pair of denim, and applies this concept to everything she sells, in addition to holding true to her original ethical and sustainable values. The brand has effectively done the work for the consumer to find the most trustworthy yet sustainable apparel companies in the business, all in one place. As many would consider the clothes to be art art pieces themselves, be sure not to miss taking a peek at the new winter apparel selection at ARC alongside the photographs, to see how beautiful eco-fashion can really be.
The event is being held at 306 W Cordova St between 7:00 and 10:30 pm on November 29th, 2018. Snacks and drinks will be provided in addition to the welcoming red-brick-wall setting, perfect for mingling. Lastly, don’t worry about tickets - it’s free!
